Reviews

The Lenovo S10 IdeaPad S10 some nice touches: a stylish and compact chassis, full-featured back-up software, a speedy hard drive, and a screen with great viewing angles. Unfortunately, it also has a smaller keyboard and touchpad the MSI Wind. Consumers who want the most compact and stylish 10-inch netbook on the market will look past these flaws and snap up the Lenovo S10.

If you’re looking for a big, beefy hard drive and surprisingly sprightly performance from a mini-notebook, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is a solid pick. The Lenovo S10 offers enough perks to make it a top pick for serious mobility.

Lenovo’s “me, too!” entry in the Netbook sweepstakes, the IdeaPad S10, gets the price and features right, but falls behind on battery life. The battery lasted about as long as other 3-cell Netbooks we’ve tested, such as the MSI Wind, coming in at 2 hours and 13 minutes on our video playback battery drain test.

The ExpressCard slot gives you the option of adding more USB ports, Firewire, eSATA, or any number of other ports to the Lenovo S10. Ultimately, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is a great ultra-portable laptop priced below $500. However, if you’re willing to put up with a bulkier notebook then it’s still possible to find a computer with more features and performance for almost the same price on sale.
